Horsing Around

Welcome to Elton Horse Books!

Introducing Beverley Heselton, life-long horsewoman and book author.

Bev is an enthusiastic and experienced horse-rider, who has had varied experience with beginner riders of all ages. She was a foundation member of the Somers (Vic) Riding Club, and has been involved with pony clubs and adult riding clubs. She has conducted workshops on pony care and safe pony management for children and parents, and has run a Ponylovers' Workshop for primary school children.

At present she owns two miniature ponies, Ebony, a black Shetland and Manuka, which is bay with a very thick mane and tail. These ponies have stolen their way into her heart. They were foals when she purchased them and she has enjoyed the experience of watching them grow and mature. Previously Bev had lived in Melbourne and kept her horses on agistment. Now, living on a small property in the Yarra Valley, she is able to experience the day-to-day habits of the ponies. This has introduced her to new aspects of pony-care.

Despite some early involvement in showing and dressage, Bev decided that riding for pleasure was more satisfying and certainly less expensive than the world of the show ring. She then had a long involvement with beginner riders of all ages, and had the opportunity to ride many different horses. She now enjoys the close relationship with her ponies.
